My copy of the Star Trek DVD came in the mail today! I'm so excited!

Because it's been forEVER, hasn't it? (Or, like... three weeks? Four? I dunno.)

I just don't know what to write about. XD School and work at the office are eating my life at the moment, and I'm busy as music director for the production of Oliver! at FRT coming up. (We open on the 27th!) ...Oh wait, there's something. Duh-hur.

The band's pretty much all organized for the show. In addition to piano, we've got horn, trombone, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon. Used to have a percussionist, but he had to back out due to schedule conflicts; I'm looking at another possible person to take his place, but he hasn't returned my call yet. Oh well. If we don't get a percussionist, the world won't end. I think we sound find without one.

UGH, I have homework to speed-through this weekend. DX I totally could have done it all week, but nooooo... Meh. It's really only two projects that need doing, so if I work off one tonight and leave the other one for tomorrow, it should turn out fine. (Yay, procrastination? XD;; Ehehe.)

Got over a slight fever I had last night. It came on sort of randomly; I just sort of work up with a stuffed nose and throat and a pretty big headache yesterday morning, and it kept up for the rest of the day. It wasn't until after I got home from work that my mom insisted on taking my temperature (which was apparently around 100-degrees). My sister made tea for me and made me take some Advil before I went off to rehearsal. ...Now I realize why I don't mind being a little sick when it does happen: I feel so loved during those few days. <3 (Not that we don't already take care of each other, my family and I; it just seems to really hit home when one of us is out of it.)

Anyway, the headache's mostly gone today. It doesn't spin when I stand up anymore, but I can still feel it there in the back of my head. Mom wants me to take it easy the rest of the day even though I have rehearsal tonight, so I guess I'll just... I dunno, zone out for a couple hours until then. XD Woo!

Annnnnd that's my life. Yay. <3

...Oh yeah, and STAR TREK COMES OUT ON DVD TUESDAY, YAAAAAY. 8D I preordered that sucker, like, two months ago. ...And the "art of the movie" book, too. X3 I CAN'T HELP IT, I'M AN ARTISTIC NERD.

The pointed ears came in the mail yesterday! :D They look awesome. I haven't tried putting them on yet with the spirit gum, but it shouldn't be too complicated. Duh-hurr.

Still need to practice the eyebrow make-up, though. I'm thinking of trying it out sometime tomorrow. Mayyybe tonight if I feel like it. *shrug*

...GRAAAAAH, HALLOWEEN'S GONNA BE AMAAAAAZING. 8D ftwyn and I were just talking together about our costumes a little while ago and it was just nerdtastic and awesome and YAAAAAY. We're gonna take so many pictures together. Boo on Sarah for not having a Star Trek-related costume. XD (Kidding, Sa-chan. Steam punk is still cool. <3) Lol, oh yeah: and my mom is getting a case of Jones blue bubblegum soda for me... to act as Romulan ale (hence the blue color). I love my mom so much! And Anwyn's gonna try and get some chocolate soda for her costume, too. _{Lol, drunk Vulcan. XD} I wanna try and get futuristic-looking glasses for the drinks... but we'll see what ends up happening. Sometimes I think to much into these kinds of things, hehe.

Ugh, I can't tell if I'm coming down with something or slowly recovering from it. My throat's been a little tight for the past few days, and I don't really feel super sick, but I have little bouts of lightheadedness every so often and it makes me feel like I don't want to do anything. :| GRAAAH. I think I'll be fine by next week, but it's still annoying.

I have to memorize a Mozart piece by Wednesday. I'm kind of already halfway there, so I'm not too worried about it (I mean really, what's the worst that could happen if it takes me a little longer?). But then I have two other pieces that I should be competant in by the same date, which isn't too hard to do either; I think I just have so much on my plate right now (work-wise) that I'm thinking about too many things at once and it's throwing me off. I suppose I should just take it all one day at a time and all that and not worry too much.

Oh me. I amuse myself so. XD

A TOS Romulan, of course. Because their outfits are cool! I just got back from Target a little while ago with what I think will be the last piece I need for the outfit; then I tried it all on and OHMYGOD IT LOOKS AMAAAAAZINNNG. <3 I'd go into the list of what I'm gonna be wearing... but it's getting late and I'm tired and I kinda don't wanna. XD I'll totally post pictures of it once it's all finished.

So now that I've pretty much got all of the clothing picked out and settled, I just need to wait for the rest of the accessories to arrive. I went on eBay and ordered this pin of the Romulan Empire emblem (the bird of prey clutching Romulus and Remus in its talons) that I'll stick somewhere on my costume. I also ordered a couple pairs of pointed ears - one of them I'll give to ftwyn for her Vulcan costume. :D I ordered two different types, though: one covers the ear completely and the other is just the ear tips. I wasn't sure which one I'd like, so I just thought I'd take a chance and order both kinds. So... sorry, Migi, you'll probably get the kind I end up not wanting. XD;; But they're both of really nice quality and realism and stuff, so I don't think it'll really matter in the end. As long as they work!

And my birthday's on a Friiiday this year. That makes me happy. :3

...Oh, and I went and saw Zombieland yesterday. It was actually really good; I mean, I went in not really knowing what to expect, but it didn't matter all that much since it was a nice excuse to see all of my friends in one place. :D But yeah, I thought is was really funny. (Kinda wish I didn't have to pay nine bucks to see it, but oh well. Screw you too, economy. <3)

So I think purchasing a vinyl window sticker of the Star Trek command insigna and putting it on the rear window of my car pretty much qualifies me as a nerd.

...Yes, I KNOW this isn't new or anthing. (The whole "nerd" thing, I mean.)

Still. It's nice to know that my nerdiness hasn't reached it's peak yet. I'm still moving up, after all. Seriously. I mean, you don't see my room stocked with nu!Trek posters and action figures, right?

First day back to school todaaay. (Er... yesterday. Whatev.)

It was pretty good! I totally forgot how familiar I already am with HSU's music building. XD I feel so at home there! Plus it's nice to go to school with ftwyn again. :D (We haven't gone to the same school together since high school. WTF.)

Day was looooonnng, though. I was on campus from 9 to 4, then went straight to work for an hour, and then straight to Guys & Dolls rehearsal (which went until 9). Dx Ugh.

My first class tomorrow is at 8:30... so I suppose I should go to bed.

Jekyll & Hyde is going very well so far. I'm very satisfied about that. :D (Less stress on my back now that I know we can all handle the show!)

Got my classes all paid up for this semester. ...Although I should probably get my parking permit and check to see what textbooks I need soon. >_>;; CRAP, I can't believe school starts on the twenty-fourth. With all that's happened the time really flew these past few weeks.

My summer has been really busy, I just realized. Normally my time off consists of me doing... well, nothing. XD I mean, for the past couple years there's been a musical to play for, but that's always been about it. But this time around, I got a new job (in addition to being a church pianist), got roped into doing not one, but two musicals, and prepped for my first time at a university. I also had to say goodbye to quite a few of my theatre friends, too. D: Two of them moved away to Chicago, one of our regular choreographers had to move back down south to live with family because of financial issues, and friend I've known since Little Shop of Horrors is going away to grad school soon. WHY MUST EVERYONE LEEEEEAAAVE? D8

...Oh yeah. And my sister broke our Wii a few days ago. XD HAH. Actually, she just accidently sucked up the cord for the remote sensor while she was vacuuming and snapped it in two. (No offense sis, but fail much?) So now we have to order a new sensor bar before we can use the system again. _{...Seriously, though, how do you suck up one of those cords connected to the Wii? I think it's kinda obvious to just NOT VACUUM around the thing. XD}

SO.

Got roped into working the music for the Ferndale Rep's production of Jekyll & Hyde. I'm supposed to be working this computer program called "Orch-Extra," which is pretty much a full orchestra... on a computer. :| (Oh I'm just LOVING my detailed ability to properly describe things right now.) Eh, basically all the music for the show is prerecorded and I just press play/stop/etc. Pretty basic stuff. The music director is still programming in music for scene changes (which apparently this particular show has NONE of) and new tempi and the like. Hopefully that gets done sometime in the next few days, seeing as how the show opens on the sixth. (As in, this fucking Thursday night OMGWTF. :O) ...But I suppose I shouldn't worry about it as it is out of my control.

Only been to one Guys and Dolls rehearsal so far, but it's going pretty smoothly. The music is relatively easy; I mean, I can pretty much sight-read the whole score. Won't be able to go to anymore rehearsals until next week, seeing as how I'm devoting all of my time this week to Jekyll & Hyde. Oh well.

Still have a job at Winzler & Kelly. :D Whee!

Have until the 20th of this month to practice two piano pieces for an audition at Humboldt State. The audition is for placements for studio lessons, but I think it also counts towards piano class level. (I'm kind of hoping to test out of piano classes entirely, but I suppose that depends on how well my songs turn out. XD I'm working on re-perfecting Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag" and Rachmaninoff's "18th Variation" from Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini.) So... we'll see how that goes down later.

...Oh! And went to hidari_blue's 21st birthday party yesterday. :3 Was fuuuuunnn. I get to be the default designated driver until October now. Woot. <3 Played hours of Rock Band up at her friend Carolann's cabin up in Kneeland. (GORGEOUS weather, by the way.)

So I recently obtained a job at Winzler & Kelly Consulting Engineers about a month ago. Originally, I was hired temporarily to replace shadownitewolf, the office assistant, while she was away on vacation for five weeks. I had assumed that I would leave the job once she got back, but her boss decided that perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep me around as extra help. So I am currently in the process of becoming a regular part-time employee! Woo! :D

It feels so good to be making my own moneyyyyy. <3

School starts at the end of next month! I'm pretty excited, but I'm glad it's still only July. I want to appreciate my time off a bit more before I go back. (...That reminds me, I should probably pay for my classes soon. >_>;; And get textbooksss.)

I'm prepping for another musical at NCRT; they're doing Guys & Dolls next. :3 The first official meet-and-greet session is this Sunday at the theatre. It's gonna be fun! Except I suppose I don't need to be there the whole time, since I'm only the pianist and I don't need to stick around for the first script read-through. XD I'll just stop by, say hi, and then go home for dinner. <3

Ooh! And parties. (It wouldn't be normal if my theatre friends weren't throwing random-ass parties every weekend.) Going to an '80s-themed party tomorrow night... guess I'd better find something fitting to wear. Time for a trip into the black hole that is my closet and see what I can find. XD On Sunday afternoon there's going to be a final going-away party for my good buddy Rigel, who is moving to Chicago at the end of this month. I'll miss you, man...! It was an honor to work with you this past year-and-a-half. <3 (Lol, he's never going to see this. XD;; But it's okay, I'll tell him in person this weekend.)

Ugh. I have to change by bedsheets before I go to bed tonight. -_-;; It wouldn't be so bad if my bed wasn't so FAT. And heavy. ...And pressed up against the wall.

I watched the TOS episode "A Piece of the Action" today. I forgot how amazing it was. XD CHICAGO MOB BOSSES. Hee! I swear, the people in the costuming department back then probably had a field day everytime the Enterprise crew was scheduled to visit a planet whose society was formed around the basis of some particular culture from some random point in Earth's history.

I just wrote an ASSLOAD of shit about Fanime for the past two hours, and none of it shows up. What the FUCK?

...Fuck it. I'm not bothering trying to remember all of whatever the hell it was I wrote.


Okay, so pretty much in a nutshell: Fanime was awesome. Bought shit, took pictures, watched an assload of Star Trek (TOS), saw guys strip each other at Yaoi Bingo, and had my fifteen seconds of fame at the rave when they played one of the Gundam Wing opening themes.

As soon as I got back I got straight back into work at the theatre doing "The Producers." The second weekend was AWESOME, and the rest of the run will most likely be just as fabulous if everyone keeps the energy up. I'm playing piano for a wedding on Friday, and I'm going to the rehearsal tomorrow. Also, I recently obtained a temporary part-time job replacing my friend Melanie (shadownitewolf) at where she works while she's off vacationing in Thailand later this month. Woo! I can gets more monies. X3 I'm told that my first day is this Monday, the eighth, at 1:00 in the afternoon. Hehe, I get to dive right into it. XD

Once "The Producers" is over, I don't think there are anymore upcoming musicals I'm playing for. Another pianist is apparently doing FRT's production of "Jekyll & Hyde," but I was told that some place is doing "Guys and Dolls" sometime later, so I'll probably be playing for that. I don't know when it's starting, though, so I'll just wait for someone to approach me about it. I've only heard the rumors so far. *shrug*

So... yeah. I'll talk about Fanime next journal. I still need to post the pictures, actually. (And the video. ...Maybe the video. Hehe. X3)

The Producers opens on Thursday, I leave for Fanime Con on Friday morning, I'm waiting to hear back on a temporary job I might be getting, and I'm getting everything set for my first semester at HSU.

GAAAAAHH. SO MUCH TO DOOO.

I'm kinda bored right now. I feel like calling my friends up or something, but I don't know what we'd do. Wes is at work until 7:45 tonight, and I don't want to call up Migi or Hidari and end up doing... well, nothing. XD Besides, they probably have their cosplays to work on this week. ...Eh, maybe I'll think of something tomorrow. *shrug*

Hmm... I feel like spelling out my plans for the next few days. XD CUE BORING TEXT.

So, tomorrow after I get off work I'll stop by Target and get some Dramamine, a thermos, and maybe a few makeup products. The first year I cosplayed as Duo, I didn't wear any makeup; I figured there was no need, right? (Him being a guy and all.) But recently I read up on some tutorials for male makeup used for cosplays, and it got me interested. So I figure I'll just stop by and look at the mentioned products and try something out. *shrug* We'll see what happens. I've got the time, anyway.

Annnd on Monday, I'll go down to the bank and withdraw my Fanime budget. I'm bring $400 this year; I'm not expecting to spend all of it, but you never know. Some of it will definitely be used for gas money... and some might end up going to however many pizzas we get delivered to our hotel room (if any this year). XD I'm mainly gonna go for Gundam Wing stuff again this year. There's always a few GW doujinshi scattered around the vendor hall. I WILL FIND THEM, DAMMIT. And they will be miiiiine. <3

I'll probably also use Monday to go and stock up on food for the weekend. Maybe. I may end up putting that off until Wednesday or so. I'm not sure yet. I just know that we're not gonna stop by the Safeway in San Jose once we get there on Friday. We're leaving at 8:00 in the morning this year (as opposed to 5-ish like usual), so we'll arrive at the con roughly around our hotel's check-in time. No waiting this time! ...Hopefully! XD;;

I need to start making my checklist. I'm not bringing a WHOLE lot to the con, but I just want to make sure I've got what I need. We're gonna need all the room in the car we can manage. XD

I'm both excited and nervous at this point. It kinda sucks that The Producers is opening the exact same weekend as Fanime; I'm nervous for the musical's opening, and I'm excited for Fanime. The clashing emotions GRAAAAAHHHGH. D8

Well, we'll just see how things end up. It's gonna happen soon anyway.
